What is Alexander Technique Flow Classes?
Our Flow Classes are grounded in the Alexander Technique, a method that helps you become more aware of how you use your body in motion and at rest. Through guided verbal instruction, physical demonstration, and gentle exploratory movement, you will:
- Develop greater kinesthetic and spatial awareness
- Discover more balance and ease in posture and daily movement
- Improve coordination and fluidity
- Expand your breathing capacity and awareness
- Increase confidence in your body
- Learn to identify and reduce habitual patterns of tension
Unlike traditional fitness classes, these sessions are not about effort or stretching to extremes. Instead, you’ll be guided to tune into your internal experience and move with more mindfulness and integrity. Strength and flexibility naturally emerge as by-products of improved coordination and awareness.
How It Works
Each class is structured around fundamental movement principles, integrating the whole body and cultivating deeper presence and flow. The curriculum includes rotating themes, such as:
- Head-Neck-Back Relationship
- Thinking Before Moving (Inhibition)
- Rest and Recuperation
- Weight Mobilization
- Spirals and Direction
- Breathing and Voice
- Gait and Support
- Use of the Eyes and Spatial Awareness
